Описание к видео Jonny Young Band Wagon Wheel CMC, North Cheam, Surrey. 1 July 1994

Back in the late sixties and early seventies, two bands dominated the British Country scene. Liverpool's Hillsiders and from the Medway area of Kent, The Jonny Young Four. The original line up was Jonny Young (lead vocals and rhythm guitar), Dave Crane (lead guitar), Bob Gibb (bass) and Luce Langridge (drums). Jon Keys was the band's roadie from 1969 -1970 and used to play drums whenever Luce wasn't available. This was Jon's first experience of a country band. Sadly, Bob Gibb was killed in 1969 when the band's van was hit by Charlie Chester's Rolls Royce. Bob was replaced by Dave Tews.

They released their first single, Dreaming Country, on RCA in 1969 and another single, Rocky Top, also on RCA in 1970. Their first album, Country Pride, was released on Phillips in 1972 and the band line up at that time was Jonny Young (lead vocals and rhythm guitar), Dave Crane (lead guitar and vocals), Dave Coomber (bass and vocals) and Luce Langridge (drums). The band worked with some of the biggest names in Country music including Dottie West, George Hamilton IV, Conway Twitty and Hank Locklin. They were invited by Roy Acuff to appear on The Grand Ole Opry in Nashville.

The Jonny Young Four won a succession of awards from the American magazine 'Billboard' and 'Record Mirror' as best British band for three years in succession in 1972, 1973 and 1974. The band appeared at the International Festival of Country Music at Wembley no less than eleven times up to 1987. After a period of voluntary inactivity, Jonny decided to form a larger 6-piece band using some of the most experienced country musicians around.

In 1994 when the Jonny Young Band appeared at the Wagon Wheel CMC in North Cheam, Surrey, the line up was Jonny Young on rhythm guitar and lead vocals with Tony Caldwell on lead guitar and vocals. Tony had returned to Jonny Young after a spell with another Kent band, Plain Loco. On pedal steel guitar was the experienced Eric Snowball, Jack Hills on piano, Keith Foster on bass and Tim Relf, another ex Plain Loco member on drums.
