Hello Everyone! As the Maharashtra local body elections take place, actor Ranbir Kapoor has called on citizens to engage in the democratic process by casting their votes. After voting at a polling booth in Mumbai, he shared a significant message through the media. He emphasized the importance of voting, stating that it is the responsibility of citizens to participate in elections. He noted that people often express dissatisfaction about various issues throughout the year, urging them to come out and vote. Ranbir also expressed gratitude towards the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation for consistently providing good facilities during events like Ganpati celebrations and elections.
Following his vote, Ranbir proudly displayed his inked finger to the media. Polling is currently taking place across 29 municipal corporations in Maharashtra, which includes major cities such as Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Thane, Navi Mumbai, Nashik, and Pimpri-Chinchwad. The State Election Commission has reported that approximately 3.48 crore voters are eligible to participate in this election.
A total of 15,908 candidates are vying for 2,869 seats across 893 wards, with 39,092 polling centers established to facilitate the voting process. Voting commenced at 7:30 am and will continue until 5:30 pm, with vote counting scheduled for January 16. Reports indicate that by 1:30 pm, the voter turnout across all 29 municipal corporations was recorded at a moderate 29.22 percent. By 11:30 am, the overall turnout in the state reached 17.41 percent, with Ward 18 in Mumbai showing the highest turnout at 11.57 percent, while Ward 162 had the lowest at 1.68 percent.
