The experienced Estonian rally driver Ain Teppo, 48, died when the Lada 2105 VFTS he was driving crashed into a stack of wood during the 2007 Mulgi Ralli in Estonia.

It happened at 19h40 on Friday, 28 September of that year, during the early kilometers of the opening special stage of the rally, in the village of Kibaru in Viljandi County, some 130 kilometers south of the capital city Tallinn, central Estonia. An emergency crew that quickly intervened, attempted resuscitation efforts but Ain Teppo died of his injuries.

His co-driver Siimo Sõmer was taken to Viljandi Hospital, where he was admitted with non life-threatening injuries as a result of the accident. The exact circumstances of the crash are still not clarified. Owing to the tragedy, the event which was the sixth round of the 2007 Estonian Rally Championship, was immediately suspended.

Born in 1959 Ain Teppo made his debut as a rally driver in the late 1980s, when Estonia was part of Soviet Union. He made a comeback to rallying in 2005 after spending some seasons away from the sport. He had been a member of the Estonian Police since 1995, working as an inspector in the traffic police of the Võru Police Prefecture.
