Armorial porcelain is a category of Chinese export ware, distinguished by its painted coats of arms of European nobility. Its production dates back to the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty and reached its peak during the Kangxi era of the Qing Dynasty.
These pieces were meticulously painted and fired by Chinese artisans according to specifications—shape, style, and decoration—provided by their European clients. As such, they not only exemplify traditional Chinese porcelain craftsmanship but also reflect the decorative tastes and aesthetic preferences of the European aristocracy of that period.
