Catherine Hoggle, a woman from Clarksburg, was indicted on two counts of first-degree murder for the deaths of her children, Sarah and Jacob Hoggle. The children disappeared in September 2014, when they were ages 3 and 2, respectively. Their bodies have never been found. Hoggle was the last person seen with them.

In the years following their disappearance, Hoggle was repeatedly found incompetent to stand trial due to a diagnosis of paranoid schizophrenia and was committed to a state psychiatric hospital. The charges against her were initially dismissed after she had been held for a number of years, as per Maryland law.

However, after being discharged from the hospital on July 23, 2025, she was re-indicted and arrested on new murder charges. At a subsequent bond review hearing, a judge ordered Hoggle to be held without bond. Prosecutors at the hearing also revealed that they believe Hoggle confessed to an acquaintance that she had strangled her children. Hoggle's attorney maintains that she is still incompetent to stand trial. The children's father, Troy Turner, has been vocal about his fight for justice for his children.
