Do you have a favorite morally grey character? I don't think they are as common as we generally think.

Rhysand in ACOTAR gets called morally grey, but I don't think he is. All the sketchy stuff he does turns out to be because of the circumstances. Pretty much every "bad" thing he does (at least in the first three books) turns out to be because he didn't think he had a choice and was doing the best he could. There isn't really anything where it's like "You did a bad thing and that's it." There are always extenuating circumstances.

Uhtred of Bebbanburg on the other hand? ABSOLUTELY morally grey. Uhtred sells one girl into slavery, then risks his life to free another one. He swears allegiance to a king, then takes every opportunity to weasel out of it. He stabs some of his allies in the back because he feels like it and nearly dies to save others because reasons. His character is possibly the best balance of light and dark I've ever read.
