Botany with Bobby: Inside the Neukom Vivarium

If you've ever crossed the intersection of Broad Street & Elliott Avenue in Seattle's Belltown neighborhood, you've likely seen the greenhouse that sits on the edge of the Olympic Sculpture Park. But what exactly is this dimly-lit, mysterious glass room? In this episode of 🍃 Botany with Bobby 🍃, SAM Facilities and Landscape Manager Bobby McCullough takes us inside the "Neukom Vivarium," the 2006 mixed-media installation by American artist Mark Dion, to show off the 60-foot Western hemlock that acts as a nurse log for a new generation of native plants.
