Counting of votes for the Vice Presidential election has begun, with official sources confirming that 12 out of 781 MPs did not cast their ballot.

The contest is between NDA nominee C P Radhakrishnan and Opposition candidate B Sudershan Reddy. Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Rajnath Singh, Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, and several other leaders exercised their franchise.

Polling saw nearly 96% voter turnout, with the results expected later this evening. The NDA, with the support of 429 MPs, appears to hold a clear edge over the Opposition.
