this little diversiditty contains my notes on notes on theatre and entertainment demographics, however the sentiment could certainly be extended into other industries. my position of exhaustion around such conversation (as articulated in the title: to be honest i'm tired of talking about it) is not meant to convey an absolute uselessness of such conversations, but it is meant more to point towards my experience that:
1. i find very often they are employed as a time-stalling tactic, where discussion is used as substitution for meaningful action, where words continuously revolve to describe the problem rather than following through and beyond with real strategy and commitment towards accomplishing meaningful change.
2. i've recently decided i find the term... strange. and inadequate. in the way it continues to lumps together The Enormous Other in contrast to the straight-cis-able-bodied-white-male, a relatively small group in comparison. therefore, i don't think the word communicates the numerical reality (nor the nuances) of The Diversities, especially toronto, where i currently reside. and by not communicating that reality, i feel it diminishes our understanding of our true power.

i would also like to clarify that i fully understand and support and encourage people to spark and engage in conversations around these notions wherever and whenever they find it useful or healing. this is not a judgment, they are simply my thoughts, and they are subject to change. or not.
