Sacrifice – this heartfelt no. is a creation by a renowned English singer , pianist and composer , also Grammy Award Winner – 'Sir Elton John' from the 1989 album – ‘Sleeping with the past.’ A soft-rock hit , it was written by Elton John and Bernie Taupin , also produced by Chris Thomas under the label – The Rocket , MCA Records.

The song describes the hardships of marriage. It emphasizes the importance of staying faithful and devoted , challenging the old mantra - a successful union requires sacrifice.
The song achieved great success in 1990 in France , the UK and the US. It became John’s first solo chart topper in the UK Singles- Chart.
