Hey guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today we have a 2022 Ram 2500, and we're gonna be taking a look at and I'm gonna show you how to install the Firestone Ride-Rite Red Label Air Helper Springs. These air springs are gonna mount between the frame of your vehicle and the axle, and what they're designed to do is they're designed to take some of the load so that not all of the load, whether it's in your bed or on your hitch, is going to be on your vehicle suspension. They're gonna give you a much more comfortable ride and help you to level that load. A lot of times, what's happening with these heavier-duty trucks is the suspension is a little bit softer from the manufacturer's, so that the truck is more comfortable when you're driving around every day. Well, that doesn't really help you when it comes to towing a trailer, or in the case of this truck, they're towing a big fifth wheel trailer that weighs 18,000 pounds when loaded down fully.

So in that case, this truck is sagging so far down that it is no longer comfortable to pull the trailer. When they're driving, their steering wheel feels loose, the headlights are pointed up into the sky. So adding these springs are gonna help to bring the front end of the truck back down and the back end of the truck up to where it's level. Now, these bags are gonna be rated to hold 7,500 pounds. That is the max capacity of them.

I've never seen a truck that can carry 7,500 pounds in the bed, but that just goes to show you what they test them for and what they're built to be able to carry, so that no matter what, you know that you're gonna be safe for whatever load you put in your bed or behind your truck. The max PSI on the airbags is gonna be 150 PSI. A minimum PSI that you're gonna wanna leave in the bags at all times is going to be five PSI. This is so that the bags do not crush themselves because if you we're to have no PSI in the bags and just headed down the road, normal suspension travel. If you don't have anything to stretch that rubber out, what can happen is the rubber can slowly start to wear on itself, and it'll rub small holes and cracks and cause leaks in the future.

Now, this kit will come with two manual inflation valves, and we installed them right here. The left side will go to the driver's side bag and the right side will go to the passenger's side bag. The reason why I really like the bags to be run separate is because first off, you're going to have the individual control. So if you have a little bit heavier load on the left side of your truck, your truck is not going to transfer the weight because it will transfer air back and forth between the bags if you have a tee fitting in line. Definitely, if you're having a problem with body roll, when you're pulling a heavy trailer, you'll want to have two valves so that the truck cannot roll.

'Cause what'll happen is one bag, if the truck starts to lean, it'll just simply transfer air back over to that other bag. So if you're having a problem with body roll, you want two valves. That goes the same for a. If you're putting an onboard compressor on there, you definitely want an onboard air compressor that has a two-path route. So you're gonna run two valves or two lines from the compressor each to their own airbags, so that you don't have that problem with body roll anymore. Now, when it comes to the installation, it was a little bit more difficult for us. Usually, it is easier when you have a lift, but because our lifts will lift the vehicle by their wheels and tires, it was actually more difficult for us. So if I had to do this kit again, I would definitely do it from the ground. So you might be at a slight advantage if you're doing it from home. I would definitely, I would jack the vehicle up from the rear differential, lift it up, put jack stands underneath the rear axle, and then lift up on the hitch to be able to get the space that we're gonna talk about in the installation. The driver's side was not bad at all doing it on the lift. I was able to get it slapped up into place. It wasn't too difficult. The hardware was a little bit tricky. Underneath these trucks, there are so many suspension components, and track bars, and different things, anti-sway bars the coil springs, all that stuff. There's a lot of stuff in the way, and where the brackets mount are on the outside. So if you can get the wheel
