Readings: Genesis 2–3 | Romans 5:12–19 | Matthew 4:1–11
Character Reflection: Gideon — Fear | Hidden Valor

Today’s readings reveal the contrast between disobedience and obedience, fear and faith. Genesis shows the fall of humanity through temptation. Romans reminds us that grace overcomes sin through Christ. In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus resists temptation in the desert, modeling trust and obedience to God.

While Adam fell, Christ stood firm.

Gideon reflects this spiritual journey. Though fearful and hesitant, God called him “mighty warrior.” He saw weakness — God saw potential. Hidden valor is revealed when fear is surrendered to faith.

This Lenten reflection invites you to ask:
• Am I allowing fear to define my decisions?
• Do I shrink back from opportunities because I feel unworthy?
• Can I trust God’s vision of me over my self-doubt?

Lent is a season of courage. Between fear and faith lies a decision.

Lord, help me trust Your vision of who I can become. Strengthen me in temptation and in fear. Amen.
