In Ming Dynasty China, Muslim communities built mosques inspired by Confucian temple architecture. This unique style allowed mosques to blend into the local urban landscape while preserving Islamic functions inside.

One of the best examples is the Niujie Mosque in Beijing—first built in the 10th century and rebuilt under the Ming. From the outside, it resembles a Chinese temple with curved roofs, wooden beams, and red pillars. Inside, it houses a mihrab, prayer halls, and Quranic inscriptions.
