Scriptures says that, after Lord Krishna wound up his manifested pastimes, he took a shape of Lord Vishnu. Biswabasu found this stone and felt its divinity. So he started worshiping it and name it Lord Nila Madhava. This brahma was later fetched by King Indradyumna by Brahmin Bidyapati for the creation of Lord Jagannath's idol. It has been kept inside a small chamber inside the Lords idol. It is believed that it is still present inside the Lord's idol and is transferred to the new idol after every 12 years.

According to the legends, in the Satya yuga, Indradyumna was a Lunar Dynasty king of Somavamsa lineage. A traveling pilgrim came before Indradyumna and described the great God Nila Madhava (Blue Vishnu) being worshipped at Nilachal (Blue Mountain) in Odra (Odisha). The pilgrim disappeared after telling the story.

To the North of Rohini Kunda, there is a place where a Sabar Chief name d Viswabasu was worshiping Nilamadhaba. The Devatas used to come at night to worship Lord Nilamadhaba everyday. This news tempted the king Indradyumna to see Nilamadhaba. At the king’s request, his priest and his younger brother Bidyapati went in search of the legendary divinity. Bidyapati reached the forest in Sabaradwipa on the banks of the river Mahanadi. Coming to Odra Desha, Vidyapati took shelter in Sabar village and made friendship with the family of Sabar Chief concealing his identity and motive of coming to that place. Then he fell in love with a Sabar maiden called Lalita, the only beautiful daughter of Viswabashu and got married her.

In this village Kaliapalli situated in Dhanchangada GP under Bhapur block and Nayagarh district, you will have the opportunity to be a part of the famous legend and folk tale and witness the belongings of Viswa Basu. Here you can see the famous Sata Bhauni Temple (Seven Sisters Temple) worshipped by Viswa Basu; Kalia Madhaba, the earlier version of Lord Nilamadhaba; Lalita Udyan and many more.

Sadly, this place lacks recognition and the successor still thrive for their identity.
