The imposing ruins of Peveril Castle stand high above the pretty village of Castleton in the heart of Derbyshire's Peak District. Mentioned in the Domesday survey, Peveril Castle is one of England's earliest Norman fortresses. The keep was built by Henry II in 1176.

It's a joyful day in the Peak District town of Castleton but that's not about to stop us having an adventure. we set off on a quest to discover Peveril Castle.

This mysterious fortress is set on a hill top high above Castleton and as we begin our ascent on foot there is instant regret as we keep getting higher and higher with nothing between us and a tumble to the bottom.

Having conquered the climb to the top we are rewarded with some spectacular views of a gloomy but beautifully mysterious Peak District scenery and the chance to discover some of the secrets of Peveril Castle before safely returning to the town below.
