Picadillo Shepards Pie Recipe

*Two differences*
1. Do not add diced potatoes to picadillo (will use potatoes for mashed potatoes)
2. Only use 1/2 cup of water instead of the 1 and 1/2 cups. (Since we are not cooking the potatoes in the picadillo, you won’t need as much water)

Ingredients
See Picadillo recipe for all ingredients
4 potatoes
1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
Fresh rosemary
Fresh thyme
1-2 tbs butter
1 smashed garlic clove
1/2 tsp salt
Pepper to taste

Instructions
1. Cut up potatoes and boil in salted water for 15-20 mins
2. While potatoes are cooking make Picadillo and set to side
3. In small pot add heavy whipping cream, butter, rosemary, thyme, garlic and salt. Let simmer for 5 minutes
4. Strain cream
5. Mash potatoes and add cream. Mix well and add salt and peppers as needed
6. In oven safe container add picadillo and press down flat. Add mashed potatoes gently and smooth down
7. Bake at 400° F for 30 mins and then broil for 2-4 minutes to have a crispy top
8. Enjoy!
