STORYLINE:
Israeli soldiers continued to fire artillery shells into southern Lebanon from an undisclosed location in northern Israel on Wednesday morning.
Some of the soldiers, who are Orthodox Jews, could be seen praying before resuming the firing.
Civilian casualties mounted across Lebanon as Israeli warplanes continued to blast targets on the southern edge of Beirut and elsewhere, in an effort to destroy Hezbollah's ability to fire rockets on Israel.
At least eight rockets fired from Lebanon fell in Haifa Wednesday, hitting one building, the army and medics said.
By Wednesday morning, at least 242 people had been killed in Lebanon and 25 in Israel since fighting broke out on July 12.
