The Card Life presented by Loupe: Arizona (Season One, Episode One)

In the debut episode of The Card Life, Padres pitcher & host Matt Strahm welcomed viewers to Arizona, where he was wrapping up a rehab stint from knee surgery.

Strahm visited AZ Sports Cards, a popular local card shop in Phoenix since 2009. In addition to shopping for packs to break on the show, he met with Mark Dupray, a North Phoenix resident who collects 1990 Topps “blackless” cards. These extremely rare cards caused by a printing error, are one of the few value cards from the junk wax era, and you’ll never believe what happened when Matt and Mark hunted for them. Viewers also got to go beyond Arizona to the house of Green Bay Packers running back AJ Dillon, who opens packs for fans on the Loupe app. In the final segment, Arizona card artist Gypsy Oak presented Matt with an original work in the style of a 1971 Topps baseball card.
