On April 28, 2022, an undercover Daytona Beach Police Department officer was patrolling an area known for street prostitution in his unmarked vehicle. The patrol followed “multiple prostitution-related complaints” in the area.

Electronic surveillance footage shows that at approximately 12:55 p.m., the officer approached a white woman at the intersection of North Segrave Street and North Street—a known prostitution hotspot. The woman got into the undercover officer’s vehicle, asked if he was “a police officer,” said she needed money, and then negotiated for oral sex and intercourse for a total of $60… leading to the arrest.

The woman had a prior conviction for driving without a license and drug possession. She had previously been referred to a drug addiction treatment court but voluntarily left the inpatient treatment program—an action she explained in court was an attempt to maintain her sobriety. However, on June 28, 2022, she successfully completed the Volusia County Prosecutor's Office's "SMART" deferred prosecution program. SMART—an acronym for "State Attorney's Mission to Assist Thriving Rehabilitation and Treatment"—is a program aimed at addressing the root causes of misdemeanor behavior.

Since she mentioned her daughter in the video, it should be clarified that she married in 2019, gave birth to her daughter in 2020, and her husband filed for divorce in 2021 while she was incarcerated. On July 26, 2022, the marriage officially ended, and the father was granted full custody of their child.
