Virtual reality in rehab for FND

An update of our amazing 15-year-old client, who’s worked hard with our integrated rehab team (PT, OT, and Psychology) to return to skiing and hiking and graduated from an intensive program last week!

Here are some updates from her last week:

⛷️Using Virtual Reality (VR) Ski POV, balance training, and resistance bands, she’s building tolerance to shoes and socks—a fun, engaging way to practice graded exposure while simulating skiing movements!

🥾VR isn’t just for skiing—it’s also helping her return to another joyful activity: hiking! She’s watching a POV hiking video, with our student PT coaching her through the experience in real time. This is helping retrain her brain for walking with shoes and socks!

🎉Taking it up a notch! Sensory inputs were added to increase stability while walking with a VR headset. These strategic challenges are designed to build confidence, control, and coordination.

Her progress is inspiring! By harnessing neuroplasticity, creativity, and TEAMWORK, we’re helping her reconnect with the activities she loves.

FND doesn’t define her journey—she does!
