Marco Facoli composed two collections of harpsichord music; Book I is unfortunately lost, which is a true pity, considering the high quality of the second collection, ten pieces from which you will hear in this recording. Facoli had already died by the time this second volume was published. He had a son, Claudio, that he entrusted to Andrea Gabrieli for his musical education. Gabrieli was Master of Music at Saint Mark’s Cathedral in Venice. Facoli himself seems to have lived in Venice all his life. Unfortunately, biographical information about him is minimal.
