We all know what happened to Mahatma Gandhi's murderers, Nathuram Godse and his associates, but during these events, there was another tragic incident that was kept hidden. In this video, we will talk about the massacre of Chitpawan Brahmins, where around 8,000 Brahmins were killed in a terrible genocide.
On the day Mahatma Gandhi was shot, news of his death spread across Maharashtra. Congress-led goons started riots and violence, focusing on one community, the Chitpawan Brahmins, to which Nathuram Godse belonged. In Mumbai, 15 people were killed the day after Gandhi's death. These goons even convinced other groups, like Marathas, Jains, and Lingayats, to join in the attacks. They killed Brahmins, raped women, murdered men, killed children, and burned houses. They also damaged the property of Veer Savarkar, who also belonged to the Chitpawan community, and his brother was stoned to death. The violence spread quickly to other places like Kolhapur, Satara, Sangli, and Pune. According to reports, 1,000 houses were burned in Satara alone, and three people were selectively killed just because their surname was Godse.
Chitpawans were among the key groups who fought against British rule. Leaders like Mahadev Ranade, Gopal Krishna Gokhale, Lokmanya Tilak, and Veer Savarkar were all Chitpawan Brahmins. Special thanks to the foreign media for covering this tragic event because, due to media bias in India, most Indian outlets didn’t report on it and tried to hide it.
