Meet Nala!

Nala arrived displaying some serious aggression toward dogs and humans. This lovely lady grew up during the lockdowns; unfortunately, this meant she missed out on a lot of positive exposure during her critical period of development. Nala's family had sought many forms help to no avail. This is where Homestead came into the picture...

We began with Nala by teaching her that interactions with people are optional. When a dog realises they can say 'no' they are often more willing to say 'yes'. We initially threw the food away from the person so there was less pressure on Nala (a common mistake is to offer food in hand straight away which can tempt the dog in but then the fear returns when the food has been eaten and they realise they are too close for comfort). Nala needed a lot of work around dogs and the general environment so she understood the expectation for her behaviour.

The transformation in Nala has been phenomenal. We are so happy for this girl and her newfound confidence. We are so proud of you, Nala ❤️
