From 23 to 26 September 2025, over 330 prevention researchers and practitioners from across Europe and beyond gathered at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin for the 16th Conference of the European Society for Prevention Research.

The conference theme, "The Prevention Continuum: Implications for Research and Practice," brought together different perspectives on prevention – from universal approaches to targeted interventions, and from medical sciences to social and political sciences.

Featured in this film are Dr. Gregor Burkhart, EUSPR President, and Prof. Elena Gervilla, President-Elect, who welcomed participants to explore intersectoral collaboration and shared learning across prevention systems.

Dr. Ina Czyborra, Berlin Senator for Science, Health and Care, opened the conference alongside Prof. Dr. Dr. Klaus M. Beier, Director of the Institute of Sexology and Sexual Medicine at Charité.

Also featured are Prof. Samuel Tomczyk from Rostock University, Prof. Andreas Beelmann from Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena, Prof. Andreas Diefenbach, Director of the Institute of Microbiology, Infectious Diseases and Immunology at Charité, Prof. Tamar Mendelson, Zili Sloboda, Joella Anupol, and many other experts who contributed their perspectives on prevention research and practice.

Through keynote presentations, parallel sessions, and workshops, participants discussed how to strengthen links between research, education, and practice, and how to improve prevention quality across diverse fields and European prevention systems.
