Abstract

Students often struggle with carrying heavy backpacks, particularly when climbing stairs in multi-story school buildings. Traditional hand-pulled trolleys offer limited help as they are difficult to maneuver on stairs and uneven surfaces, often leading to instability, strain, and potential injuries. This project aims to solve these issues by designing a stair-climbing trolley that allows students to carry their bags with ease while navigating stairs.

The stair-climbing trolley addresses three key challenges: the inability of current trolleys to manage stairs, the postural discomfort caused by lifting heavy bags, and the risk of injuries from carrying these loads. The new trolley uses a multi-wheel system that allows smooth movement on stairs and uneven surfaces, eliminating the need for manual lifting.

The impact of this innovation has been significant. Students reported increased comfort, as the trolley reduces the physical strain associated with traditional methods. Schools have also observed fewer injuries related to back pain and posture issues. Furthermore, the stair-climbing trolley improves convenience, allowing students to move between classes more efficiently, reducing fatigue and enhancing their overall school experience.

This solution not only improves daily comfort but also mitigates long-term health risks, providing a more practical and ergonomic way for students to transport their belongings in a school environment.
