When people sell their home, they often wonder how to go about purchasing another when they have to sell their current home. Some are fortunate enough to be able to purchase a home before selling, but most have to sell their home first to get the proceeds to buy another. Here is what we suggest to successfully find your dream home while your current home is on the market:

Meet with a realtor to let them know what you're looking for: why you're moving, location, etc. and start looking at homes to get comfortable with what your options will be. This also gives you the time to prepare your home to hit the market.
Put your home on the market
Find a buyer and secure a great offer
Make sure you ask for a rent back (typically 30-60 days) to give you time to look for a home to purchase
