Firefighters in Chile have been battling large forest fires that have destroyed at least 60 homes and burned through nearly 150 acres of grassland. Chile's President Sebastian Pinera travelled to the city of Valparaiso on Tuesday, with television footage showing large fires burning near residential areas and distraught residents evacuating their homes.

"I have been able to speak to many of those affected, and beginning from today we are putting the work in place to give answers, a solution and recover the homes that have been destroyed, and the belongings that the families have lost," said the president. The cause of the fire still remains unclear. Report by Sophie Foster.
