Star Trek AMT 1/1400 Scale Clear Enterprise D Build PT 8 - Completed Engineering Hull

Part 8 of the AMT 1/1400 scale clear Enterprise D video buildup series.

I have finished up the Aztec and markings decals on the engineering hull of the model.
The process took a couple of hours to do and the decals look really nice on the ship.
I applied them and after letting them air dry a bit I sprayed on some Testor's decal bonder and they laid down very smooth on the surface.

The saucer seam at the leading edges has now been puttied in and smoothed out. I only have to do some touchup with the grey hull color to complete the paint work and apply the Aztec and marking decals and it will be finished as well.
I added the red - green navigation marker lights on the saucer. Due to the tight space at the edge of the saucer, I laid the LED's on its side and after a bit of grinding them down was able to fit them at the edges. I used my Dremel to slightly drill into the paint on the outside to allow the light from the LED's to come through. The result is a pretty convincing looking light on each side in the correct locations.

Only a few more hours now and the model will be finished and ready to mount on the display base. I'll show the completed model in the next video, part 9.
