Yet again, Aryan Khan, the son of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan was denied bail, in connection with the case of seizure of banned drugs from a cruise ship off the Mumbai coast. The special Mumbai court rejected the star kid's bail application on October 20 while making a note that he was indulging in 'illicit drug activities on a regular basis'. The special NDPS Act court made many observations in its 21-page order. It noted that WhatsApp chats of Aryan Khan prima facie revealed that he was 'dealing in illicit drug activities' regularly which is why it could not be said that he was not likely to commit a similar offence if released on bail. It also stated that Aryan was aware that his friend and co-accused Arbaaz Merchant was in possession of drugs, and hence there was 'conscious possession' despite the NCB not finding any drugs on Aryan himself. The court, further noted that the case papers and voluntary statements of Aryan and Arbaaz Merchant disclosed that they possessed drugs for consumption and enjoyment. The court order further noted, 'In Aryan's WhatsApp chats, there is reference to "bulk quantity and hard drugs" and "there is prima facie material showing that accused No 1 was in contact with persons dealing in prohibited narcotic substances.' Meanwhile, in his bail plea, Aryan had said that the NCB's contention that he was involved in a conspiracy and illicit drug trafficking was absurd, and pointed out that there was no recovery of drugs made from him. The 23-year-old was arrested, along with seven others, on October 3 after the Narcotics Control Bureau raided a cruise ship off the Mumbai coast where they reportedly seized drugs including charas. Aryan Khan's lawyers have now moved the Bombay High Court to seek bail in the drugs case. As per reports, 20 people have been arrested in the case so far.
