❗️ A paralyzed risorious muscle makes the smile look small, fake, or forced

Unfortunately, nothing can be done to reverse it, but the smile WILL eventually ⏳️ return to normal

The risorius is a superficial muscle...This means it sits closer to the surface of the skin and more forward in the face than the masseter muscle

✅️ Generally speaking, keeping the botox injections lower on, further back and deeper in the masseter muscle can prevent hitting the risorius

Thoughtful knowledge of anatomy and a precise technique are essential

⚠️Be sure to use an injector familiar with anatomy & experience treating the masseters

PS - A generous tip for injectors:
To avoid hitting the risorius, my most superior site is always deeper, more posterior, with less units, and without retrograde. I will perform a mild retrograde technique for the inferior injections, but there are mixed opinions on this. I've yet to paralyze a risorius (that I know of)🙏
