In this video, we go over how to add addon domain in Hostgator. Adding an addon domain in Hostgator is quick and easy. We also go over what to do if your Hostgator addon domain isn't working right away when you go to create and setup your website.

You'll need to have the Hostgator Baby or Hostgator Business plan to be able to create an addon domain in Hostgator. The Hatchling plan doesn't allow addon domains as it only comes with one website. If you do have the Hatchling plan you can easily upgrade your Hostgator plan to the Baby or Business plan to create your Hostgator addon domain.

To add and create your addon domain go to the Hostgator cPanel page and scroll down to the domains section. Click addon domains to go to the create addon domains page. You can also add an addon domain in Hostgator by logging into the Hostgator customer portal and clicking the launch cPanel button or clicking addon domains link.

From the create addon domain page type in the domain name that you want to use and it'll auto-populate the subdomain and root directory information once you click off anywhere on the page. You can choose to select create FTP account and enter the login details. You can also create an FTP account at a later date if you'd rather do that.

Click addon domain button and your Hostgator addon domain has successfully been created.

If you bought your domain name with another provider you want to make sure you point your Hostgator nameservers to the domain registrar. If your domain name is with Hostgator then you don't need to worry about pointing your nameservers.

Something to keep in mind is if your addon domain isn't showing up immediately it can take up to 48 hours for your Hostgator addon domain to populate. Usually, it shows within the first few hours.
