BNSF's SanJac Local Daytime Job in Riverside, CA 12/19/2024

Round 2 of chasing BNSF's SanJac Local in Riverside, CA!

Today I embarked on another chase of the daytime BNSF SanJac Local, along the Metrolink Perris Valley Subdivision, and UP Riverside Industrial Lead. Today they switch all 3 customers on the UP Riverside Industrial Lead with a good amount of switching for each.

I started off my chase in the outskirts of Riverside, CA, in the Box Springs area. Here the train was carrying the loads down the steep Box Springs grade. After catching them at the northern end of the canyon, I paced the train a bit until catching them shoving on the Riverside Industrial Lead. From here they set out their cars for Lehigh, and then backed in their hoppers. They did a good amount of switching at B&B as well as Sigma Stretch, with B&B and Sigma combined having 2 empty hoppers in total to be taken back south. The train then had both a good amount of loaded boxcars full of cement bags as well as cement hoppers for Lehigh, as well as empties taken out. Once the train was complete, they shoved back out onto the branch, before heading back onto the Perris Valley Sub mainline, including the Moreno Valley Metrolink Station, where I caught them a few more times until they approached the small yard at March Field.
