Continuing the cheap card tests that now work on the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K RAW (BRAW) codec, I went out and shot with the new Sandisk Extreme Pro 170Mbps (MB/s) and 95Mbps (MB/s) V30 cards at the 5:1 BRAW compression. Both cards perform the exact same. The only difference that I found between the 2 cards is that the write speed is 170MB/s on the newer version of the Sandisk Extreme Pro, and that is only with the proprietary card reader that they sell for $18. Other than that, the cards work the same. They also cost the same so this isn't a big deal or a scam or anything like that. If anything, these are the 2 cards that I absolutely recommend getting your hands of for Pocket 4K. Blackmagic Design has really outdone themselves with this cinema camera!

Here is what works on the BMPCC 4K in RAW (BRAW):
At 30fps and below you can record in 12:1, 8:1 and 5:1
At 60fps you can record in 12:1! (the shot with the dog is in this BRAW compression.

Those Sandisk Extreme Pro 170Mbps and 95Mbps outperformed the Lexar 1000X! That's right, the V30 SDXC UHS-I cards actually beat out the V60 UHS-II Lexar! And at half the cost, this is a no brainer on which to purchase. Sandisk, who has an awesome reputation with their reliability all the way!

I am still having issues editing in Premier and Davinci with the Blackmagic Pocket 4K. In Davinci, I get great color grading control, but my playback is choppy therefore I cannot edit accurately. The color grading is so good in Davinci. I really want to figure this out. In Premier I get excellent playback and editing, unfortunately, the Autokroma plug-in crashes every time I use an ISO of 1250 and 3200. I had some more shots to use, but as soon I added a color grade, which was using FIlmConvert, I get a crash stating that I am using an unknown ISO. This is really frustrating. Plus, grading in Premier in BRAW isn't nearly as good as Davinci. I tried exporting an XML out into Davinci, but Resolve would only synch a few of the clips and no matter what file format I imported, I would have this issue. I know things will get better in the future and some of this is probably user error, but it is annoying nonetheless.
