Ekko, blue merle comes from show lines that has zero toy drive an he is waaay more chill, also isnt fan of working, unless its for food.

Imola, the red merle miniature american shepherd (mini aussie) comes from working lines, and you can see shes by far more intense and more like your 'normal aussie'.

Personality of Ekko is more of an exception than a norm. The fact that he is a standard isnt really reason why hes calmer.
