Why did Disney’s characters look SO STRANGE on opening day?

Why they decided Pluto needed to be two people instead of one, I’ll never know 😂

The 1961 version of the characters were decidedly NOT mobile-friendly… the giant heads covered up the performer all the way to their waist, and their hands just hung limply by their sides so they weren’t able to give hugs, sign autographs, or shake hands. Minnie’s arms, however, were wired so that she could hold her parasol ☂️
