I think anybody that has been around this channel a little bit knows my love for broken rice in Vietnam.

Since I was traveling around the Mekong, I decided I wanted to do a taste off and see how different cities styles of broken rice can change. Even with these two cities only being an hour and half from each other, you would be shocked to know how different the styles and flavors were from each other!

The Cần Thơ version was just a classic plate. So simple yet so delicious. It was the pork chop which really blew my mind with how juicy it was. The rice was small and granular, while the fish sauce wasn't too overpowering.

Now the Long Xuyên is what you usually hear people talk about and for good reason. I don't think I have ever encountered a broken rice dish near as unique as the Long Xuyên version. Everything chopped up and ready to go. You have to give it a stir and dig in. This flavor was like nothing I have tasted in a broken rice dish before. It's so unique with the braised pork juices and all that delicious chopped up mixture. But the winner for me at this restaurant had to be the burnt rice, it was out of this world!!
