Wow, talk about a big news day, and it all happened to coincide with Peter Overton returning to Nine News Sydney tonight. :P

I would be lying if I said that I went to bed last night without feeling *slightly paranoid over the tsunami alert potentially being upgraded overnight. I know the likelihood of that happening was low, but the events of the past couple of years have proven that you never really know what to expect! It's 2022 after all!

Could you imagine how chaotic things would be if the NSW coastline were to experience a tsunami on a similar scale to the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami? It's honestly scary to think about. The Illawarra would seriously be one of the worst affected areas in the country. The region sits below a mountain range and the majority of us live within just 15-20 minutes from the coast, so in the scenario where a huge tsunami was confirmed to be heading our way, there would be 300,000+ people all trying to evacuate to higher ground at once. Picton Road and Macquarie Pass would be at a standstill!

Sydney would experience similar issues to us of course, but they would be slightly mitigated by the fact that the majority of the population (Western Sydney) lives away from the coastline and many parts of the city itself sits on higher elevations. Let's just hope it's not something we will ever have to contend with!

As for the Novak Djokovic saga, i'm pleased to hear that the right decision has been made and he will not be playing at this year's Australian Open. I'm sorry, but wealth and fame shouldn't place you above the law. He knowingly lied and knew what he was getting himself into. There's no sympathies from me!
