Indigenous representatives from Canada are in the Vatican meeting with Pope Francis, to talk about the Catholic Church's role in Canada's abusive residential school system. As Crystal Goomansingh reports, the delegation is not only calling for an apology from the Pontiff, but also for a show of solidarity.

Meanwhile, as both Russia and Ukraine gear up for another round of peace talks, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is alluding to key concessions. But as Redmond Shannon reports, Russia is suspected of poisoning two Ukrainian negotiators and billionaire Abramovich.

Also, as Ukrainians are forced out of their homes, some people are finding refuge at nuclear power plants. Jeff Semple reports from Yuzhnoukrainsk, and speaks with one couple on why they thought it might be safer there.

In Canada, Ontario has become the last province to sign onto the federal government's deal for $10 a day child care. Abigail Bimman takes a closer look at what the new deal entails, the gradual timeline for shrinking costs, and the current state of child care across the country.

Plus, the three RCMP officers who responded to the 2020 Nova Scotia massacre have testified for the first time at the public inquiry into the tragedy. Ross Lord hears how officers described the chaos, the challenges they faced in responding to the rampage, and the most difficult decision they say they made that night.

In Hollywood, the 94th Academy Awards ceremony came to a standstill after actor Will Smith walked up on stage and slapped comedian Chris Rock, over a joke aimed at Jada Pinkett Smith. During Will Smith's acceptance speech for best actor, he apologized to his fellow actors and the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, which is now launching an investigation. Will Smith apologized to Rock the following day, admitting he was out of line. As Eric Sorensen reports, the confrontation eclipsed the night's historic Oscar wins.

And Canada's men's soccer team has made history, qualifying for its first FIFA World Cup tournament in 36 years after defeating Jamaica. As Mike Drolet reports, Team Canada turned around seemingly impossible odds on the world stage.
