Bedouin’s exceptional Human By Default label recruits Nandu for their sixth release, bringing yet another excellent set of tracks to the table. Having previously appeared on respected labels such as Innervsions, Stereo MC’s Connected, as well as Berlin staple Watergate Records, Nandu makes his debut on Human By Default with an impeccably crafted collection of the kind of driving, emotive tracks he has become known for over the years. His live set on the Keinemusik radio show, a perfect example of his signature sound, has gone on to become the most played mix of their series so far in 2020. ‘Under The Moon With Me’ opens proceedings, with delicate synths and ghostly vocal samples gently unfurling around a consistent, propulsive bassline, skillfully winding the momentum of the track down to allow dancefloors to enter into those special eyes closed moments. ‘But Only For Now’ sees Nandu weave organic and otherworldly elements together in perfect harmony, delivering an exotic track that gently unravels itself with it’s rolling build ups and clever sampling. ‘Lightweight Traveller’, on the other hand, is decidedly synthetic, climatically working itself up, bracing for maximum club impact. ‘Changes’ sees the producer link up with previous collaborator Apoke for the most tender moment on the record, with Apoke’s soft vocal touch perfectly complimenting the gorgeous, twinkling instrumental underneath. ‘The Cat In The Sack’ rounds off the release, with skippy percussion meeting eerie pads and gritty tones to create a powerful mood throughout.
