Russian President Vladimir Putin met with teachers and students of the Sirius educational center in Sochi on Wednesday.

“I want to thank Sirius that it started working in new territories, in new entities of the (Russian) Federation - Donetsk and Luhansk people's republics, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions”, Putin told the gathering.

“What is being done now is a significant contribution to the integration of these regions into the general educational space of the country. We all understand how important this is,” he said calling it not only a political, but “first of all a humanitarian task”.

Putin also talked to finalists of the Teacher Of The Year contest via video link and congratulated them on the upcoming Teacher’s Day which is celebrated in Russia on October 5.
