Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau are planning to welcome 2026 side by side. On Monday, an insider told Us Weekly that the couple “will be spending New Year’s together,” adding, “They are very smitten and into each other.”
The New Year’s plans mark another special occasion for their relationship, which has quietly gained momentum over the past several months. According to the Us Weekly source, Perry is “really inspired” by the former Canadian prime minister, “impressed by his accomplishments,” and sees him as “a great match for her.”
The pair was first linked over the summer when they were spotted together in Montreal while Perry was on the Canadian leg of her Lifetimes Tour. In October, they were photographed holding hands in Paris after a birthday celebration for Perry. “Katy is really into it. She’s very happy,” a source told Us Weekly at the time. “She’s trying to keep it low-key, and they’ve spent a lot of private time together. She’s not looking to publicize this relationship.”
Earlier this month, Perry made things Instagram official with photos from Tokyo, where Trudeau accompanied her on tour. The two met with former Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and his wife during the visit. Trudeau later wrote in a post on X, “Great to see you @kishida230. Katy and I were so glad to have the chance to sit down with you and Yuko.” For Perry, the romance follows her recent split from longtime partner Orlando Bloom, with whom she shares 5-year-old daughter Daisy Dove. The exes confirmed their breakup via their reps, who told People in July, “They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is—and always will be—raising their daughter with love, stability, and mutual respect.” Trudeau, meanwhile, separated from Sophie Grégoire Trudeau in 2023 after 18 years of marriage.
