Two methods to run this game on an Apple Silicon Mac are tested for performance. Both are free.

Setup: Mac Mini M4 Base Model, macOS 26 Tahoe Beta 7.

1) BlueStacks Air Android Emulator

I allocated 4 cores and 8GB of memory to BlueStacks, with emulator resolution set to 1440p. Installing and using this emulator is extremely easy. Just download and install it like any other Mac app, set up some permissions, allocate cores/RAM, and you essentially have an Android tablet running as an app on Mac. It is very fast and stable on the Mac Mini M4.

The app (2GB) and Genshin Impact and Android (42GB) require approximately 44GB of disk space.

Performance ranges from 50 to 60 FPS at 1440p resolution with medium graphics settings.

Gameplay is smooth, and controllers are supported.

2) VMware Fusion Pro Windows 11 ArmVirtual Machine (3:50 in the video)

VMware Fusion Pro is free for personal and non-commercial use. There are helpful videos on how to download VMware Fusion Pro for Mac and create a Windows 11 ARM virtual machine.

I allocated 4 cores and 8GB of memory to the Windows 11 ARM virtual machine. Once Windows 11 is running in VMware, downloading and installing the PC version of Genshin Impact is straightforward. VMware’s Windows 11 ARM virtual machine only supports wired game controllers though.

The VMware Windows 11 ARM virtual machine (minimum 32GB, recommended 64GB) and Genshin Impact PC version (100GB) require approximately 132GB of disk space at minimum.

Performance ranges from 30 to 45 FPS at 1080p resolution with medium graphics settings. There is some audio crackling on the login screen before the game begins, but the audio is fine once the game starts.

RESULT: In terms of performance, BlueStacks Air is superior for this game.
