Scenic Drive From Redwood National Park to Crescent City, Northern California US Highway 101

Starting in the lush expanse of Redwood National Park, this scenic drive along US Highway 101 to Crescent City offers a captivating journey through Northern California’s coastal beauty. The route begins with towering ancient redwoods, their massive trunks forming a natural corridor, while the filtered sunlight creates a mystical ambiance. The roadway meanders past Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park, where Roosevelt elk can often be spotted grazing near the road.
As you approach the coastline, the scenery transitions to rugged cliffs and expansive views of the Pacific Ocean. A short detour to the Klamath River Overlook provides a chance to marvel at the river meeting the sea, and during migration seasons, keep an eye out for gray whales. Passing through Del Norte Coast Redwoods State Park, the drive alternates between dense forests and coastal panoramas, showcasing the unique geography of the region.
Crescent City, the endpoint of the drive, welcomes visitors with its charming lighthouse, Battery Point Light, and Crescent Beach’s serene coastline. The town’s harbor is a hub for fishing and crab boats, offering a glimpse into the local maritime culture. The drive, roughly an hour long, encapsulates the essence of Northern California’s natural diversity, making it both a serene and visually stunning experience.
