With the Coronovirus continuing to spread around the globe, its effects are being felt on the Spanish holiday island of Tenerife. The Costa Adeje Palace Hotel has been closed off and is under police guard after an Italian doctor, who had been vacationing at the resort with his partner, tested positive for the virus.

Guests at the four star hotel remain inside the complex unable to leave. It's understood the doctor, who fell ill after his return home, is from Lombardy in Italy, one of Europe's worst hit regions for COVID-19. A woman in Barcelona, who has recently returned from from the Canaries, is also reported to have fallen ill.

Tenerife is still recovering from a sandstorm which struck at the weekend, after strong winds from the Sahara closed roads and public buildings and brought flights to a halt, reducing visibility to just a few metres.

Janet Anscombe, a local reporter on the island, has been speaking to CGTN about the impact of this latest outbreak.
