Scythian - Hubris in Excelsis Review :: The Heavy Metallurgy Album Club Dissects!

If you look at 20 years of output from the UK's Scythian, one couldn't say this duo has been exactly "prolific" having only 2 full-length albums under their belt, but if Hubris in Excelsis is any indication, quality easily trumps quantity. Having started as a full band, now finding only 2 members still standing beneath the Scythian banner, Hubris in Excelsis is a triumphant melting pot of some of metal's most energetic and power styles. Bombastic and atmospheric moments of Viking era Bathory. Blackened tinged thrash. A very patient and well considered ear for creating songs that actually go somewhere with class and an atypical transitions, keep every track on this album exciting and fun to listen to.
