Good Morning Beloved of God. Praying God’s continual blessings and you and your family today through our Lord Jesus Christ.


Today our scripture reading comes from Colossians 3:23 which says, "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters". Clearly this one takes some practice since we prefer vacation and retirement to work and even when we work, the hardest thing is to work with all our hearts. But this is what our Lord, our God calls for. How do we make this command easier on ourselves?


We make this command work by following a good example, by following the right example. We follow God’s example. Jesus said in John 5:17 that, “My Father is still working, and I am working also.” If Jesus, who is the King of kings and Lord of lords is still working and God the Father is still working, there is nothing wrong with work. Bad conditions and bad bosses may make work seem like something to be rid of but there is nothing inherently wrong with work. Work is a good thing. Work allows us to generate income for our needs and the needs of our family.


All God is asking us in Colossians 3:23 is to do it with all our heart as working for the Lord. Forget our human masters, in the end, really and truly, we are working for the Lord, not for them. Let’s do it to the best of our abilities.


Let’s pray. Lord Jesus, come alongside today in everything we do. Send your angels to minister to us as we work so that we will give it our all without murmuring and complaining, without trying to escape the part of it we do not like. Support us in all our endeavors and may everything we do, give you glory, help us to meet our daily needs and bless us abundantly. Amen.
