The Supreme Court of India will hear petitions on February 16, 2026, seeking action against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma over a viral firearm video allegedly targeting a particular community. The pleas, filed by leaders of the Communist Party of India and Communist Party of India (Marxist), seek FIRs and a court-monitored SIT probe, alleging incitement of communal hatred. The video, briefly shared by the state BJP and later deleted, triggered political outrage ahead of the Assam Assembly polls. Asaduddin Owaisi has also filed a separate complaint.
