I’ve always been fascinated by the story of Joseph in scripture

If you don't know the story, he's the “adopted” father of Christ (cause he's not Jesus's biological father because of the virgin birth). What must have he been thinking as he looked down on baby Jesus? Probably a feeling of “oh wow, this is real”. The Messiah his people had been waiting for for their whole lives had finally come. And what’s more, he was the father.

“Oh shoot”, he must’ve thought. “How can I teach God?”

And that’s what this song is about.
