Lately, I’ve been seeing a lot of buzz on social media about this new bar in the basement of the Volga Hotel, in Juárez, called Minos Sound Room, created by Edo Kobayashi.
First off, it’s not exactly a speakeasy. Yes, it’s in the basement, but the place is clearly marked—even in the elevator—so there’s no hidden vibe like a true speakeasy.
What really caught my attention was the design. It’s super original and sets the perfect mood for enjoying some drinks while listening to the DJ spin vinyl records. And the highlight? The ceiling! It literally vibrates with the music, simulating water ripples. Super cool!
Now, about the drinks… I’ve gotta be honest, the signature cocktails didn’t impress me much. I ordered one with gin, and it was just okay. But, the traditional Margarita with epazote? That was a win! So, my advice: stick to the classics—they know what they’re doing there.
Minos Sound Room is a blend of a nightclub and a bar. If you’re looking to dance and have a fun night out, this place is for you. But if you’re hoping for a spot to chill and chat, you might want to look elsewhere.
