Скачать или смотреть A City FULL of Cats?? Spending a Day Traveling Through the Medieval Mediterranean Village of Kotor

Welcome to Kotor, Montenegro! We traveled here on our cruise around the Mediterranean and really enjoyed this medieval fortified city. In fact, Kotor is on the UNESCO World Heritage Site list and continues to draw in tourists with its beautiful stone buildings, amazing city walls, and unique mix of culture and history.

When we were here, we took walks throughout the city and enjoyed visiting some of the churches here, surprised to find one that was almost 1,000 years old! We also enjoyed all of the scenery on the way into the port, with the beautiful inlet and Kotor Bay presenting us with some of the best views of the Adriatic coastline.

One of the unique things about this city too is its cat population (which Katherine LOVED, of course). There are so many stray cats here, and many people in Kotor believe they are good luck! It is believed that cats were brought to Kotor on ships throughout the past few hundred years, and that these cats have been keeping the residents safe by taking care of the mice, rates, and snakes that thrive in the surrounding hills. Needless to say, these cats are being well taken care of!

Travel to Montenegro can be difficult and getting to Kotor seems a bit out of the way, but it was worth it for us! If you are traveling to Europe and want to visit a place that has a unique culture and history, amazing natural beauty, and all the cats you can dream of, then come to Kotor!
